Ausland Mix #13 – UBUNOIR

Listen/grab this excellent skweeed-out mix from Poland’s Ubunoir on the Ausland label out of Portland, which also recently dropped two very interesting offerings: the Klarvoajans compilation and a Rigas den Andre album called Ephedrine Skies.

Smoked Meat Fax Machine – Elevator 4/20 Mix

The synth funk flows strong throughout this locked-groove journey into the creamy middle of danceable hiphop beats. The skweee classics peppered in for good measure run seamlessly alongside some fresh cuts from the new Astro Nautico compilation Atlantics Vol. 3 and One Eye Wide records’ excellent Fragments Vol. 1.

Mike Paradinas Juke/Footwork FACT Mix

Another juke/footwork mix from Mr. Planet Mu himself. Mike Paradinas continues to champion this Chicago style woozy bounce music, causing it to seep into the minds of beat makers far removed from that scene. Watch for more of this vibe to pop up in the most erudite electronic productions to come.

Footwork/Juke Mix by Mike Paradinas (a.k.a. µ-Ziq)

http://www.mixcloud.com/mikep/mike-paradinas-footworkjuke-mix/

If you were conscious in the mid to late 1990s, you might remember µ-Ziq (and his alter ego Tusken Raiders on Clear Records). The man behind that IDM and drill-n-bass music was Mike Paradinas, who is now apparently really into a style of music called “juke” (or juke house) which is basically the Chicago version of booty bass or ghettotech music (other notable styles come from Miami, New Orleans and Baltimore). “Footwork,” a current sub style of juke, is featured in this mix. It’s considerably more cerebral than the standard “ass and titties” fare of ghettotech or bounce music. I feel like its sub bass and off-kilter synth toms are implanting neural signatures into my brain for activation at a later time. I’m scared and intrigued.
